Hello, and welcome to my webpage.
How do you recycle?
What do you do with your two liter soda bottles?
You have found our site so lets assume you are concerned for our environment, you already recycle everything that you can. But how exactly do you recycle all the various materials that we go through? What about your old plastic soda bottles? Do they just end up in the bin with everything else? What if instead you used them to make simple and exciting recycled crafts ? As they say: one person's trash... I personally let my creative side free by making neat and entertaining craft items from my used soda bottles.
There are already numerous ideas for recycled crafts all over the internet that use a variety of different materials. There are crafts made from wood, plastic, paper and many other types of recyclables, many of which will be featured on this site.
However, I would like to begin with my first love when it comes to recycled craft: plastic bottles. I fell head-over-heels for the plastic bottle, which is why people gave me the name Ms. Peps. The purpose of this site is to provide you with a few ideas for crafts that use plastic soda bottles. (and other items) I will show you a number of designs that I have developed and refined over the years.
Compared to most other materials, crafts using soda bottles are relatively new. It should, therefore, be a lot of fun making up new projects and finding out all of the various things that this material is capable of being fashioned into.
I will imagine that some hobby enthusiast has looked at a soda bottle they were about to throw away and asked themselves what they could be doing with this material instead. However, people lead busy lives, and they often just toss their soda bottles into the recycling bin alongside everything else. I was the same 16 years ago, but then I had my first experience with crafts made from soda bottles.
The Sunflower mirror to the left is made from mainly 2 liter bottles.
our aim here at Ms Pep's is to share and learn
as we go along.
my first pet bottle craft was a planter.
This craft idea was a simple planter, but I was impressed.
Someone had
1.Cut the top off a two liter soda bottle.
2.Cut one inch strips all the way around.
3.The strips were bent outward to create a loop, and then tucked into the base.
4.Small holes were drilled in the bottom to allow for drainage.
5.Gravel, potting soil and (Marigolds),completed the flower pot
Back then I was very impressed by how clever this was. Such a simple and easy idea for crafts. Crafts using plastic bottles had become a reality for me. It goes without saying that I took the first opportunity available to begin experimenting and creating crafts from soda bottles.
The very first recycled craft I ever made was, of course, a flower pot. From there I progressed to baskets, like the one pictured above, mirrors and much more. I absolutely adore making new projects using this wonderful material. It is simple to work with, malleable, and, best of all, readily available. I am willing to venture a guess that many of you feel the same way. I have seen so many people's creations and thought "wow, this is so creative and fantastic".
Now at this point, I must be very clear, one of my objectives as mentioned earlier,
is to share my creative craft ideas, and findings with you, which I hope you will enjoy.
And my other objective is to promote and develop my business here
at Ms Peps Recycled Crafts.
Do you feel that maybe you are not adept at crafts? Not everyone is a crafts enthusiast. These crafts projects are just one way among many to recycle. I will offer some other ways to use your recyclables and do your part to help keep our planet clean.
For the purpose of sharing interesting information, here are some facts about plastic bottles. Please feel free to share your own discoveries and information about this subject.
The Pete bottle that we all know, the soda bottle is made of.... Polyethylene terephthalate (sometimes written poly (ethylene terephthalate), Commonly abbreviated PET, PETE, or the obsolete PETP or PET-P, is a thermoplastic polymer... Pete is a highly recyclable material as we have all learned over the years, and is used as carpet fiber and a host of other items.
I hope we can explore this aspect of PETE in more detail at a later time. I like to learn about all the things that are made from recycled materials, and I look forward to sharing this with you, and learning even more information as we go forward.
Many of the craft ideas that we offer are simple, while other projects will take a little more effort and time. I have developed a set of tools and materials over the years that work very well with plastic. You can find most or all the tools you will need at any crafts store.
Let's begin recycling those plastic bottes.l
